Edward Johnson Lodge, 82, of Midlothian, Virginia, passed away peacefully on June 20th, 2026 after a life abundantly lived. He was born on June 18th, 1944 in Bannock, Ohio, to Merrit Boyd Lodge and Dorothy Johnson Lodge, who preceded him in death. He leaves behind a legacy of a life filled with purpose and unwavering devotion to family.
A proud graduate of Marshall University and a lifelong fan of college athletics, Ed carried with him a sense of school pride and a love for the traditions and friendships that sports fostered throughout his life.
In the final week of his life, Ed enjoyed the beauty of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, where he spent cherished days surrounded by family, great food, and the meaningful moments that brought him lasting happiness.
Ed was a devoted father to his two children, Wendy Whitfield (Robert) and Christian Lodge, a proud grandfather to five grandchildren, Rob, Kaitlynne, Caroline, Elizabeth, and Anne Thomas, and a beloved brother to his three sisters, Priscilla Shifflette (Richard), Barbara Gallman (Joe), and Marcia Lodge. He held his family close, and he found his greatest happiness in the moments they shared together. Whether gathering for brunch, enjoying a backyard cookout, or cheering from the sidelines at countless sporting events, Ed was a constant source of encouragement, wisdom, and support.
An avid golfer, Ed could often be found on the course or at the driving range, always eager to improve his game and enjoy the camaraderie that came with it. Golf was more than a pastime- it was one of the great passions of his life, offering him friendship, challenge, and treasured memories.
He valued time together above all else and created a legacy of family traditions, steadfast support, and joyful gatherings that will endure for generations.
Ed will be deeply missed by his sisters, children, grandchildren, extended family and many dear friends. His memory will live on in every family celebration, every shared meal and every sporting event cheered from the stands, and every swing taken on a sunny afternoon of golf.
