Gone but never forgotten

Shannon Bennett, a beloved daughter, sister, and friend, was born on May 4, 1995, in Alexandria, Virginia, and passed away unexpectedly on August 10, 2026, at the age of 31. Shannon was known for her radiant smile, her infectious laughter, and her ability to light up a room. Her warm spirit and generous heart touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

From a young age, Shannon exhibited a passion for the arts. She excelled in her studies at Alexandria High School, where she was involved in various extracurricular activities, including theater and music. Her performances in school plays and community theater showcased her immense talent, earning her numerous accolades and the admiration of peers and teachers alike.

After graduating high school, Shannon pursued a degree in Fine Arts at George Mason University. During her time at college, she not only honed her artistic skills but also made lifelong friends who appreciated her creativity and kindness. Shannon was actively involved in her university's art clubs and frequently participated in local exhibitions, sharing her unique perspective through her artwork.

Shannon's love for the community was evident in her many volunteer efforts. She dedicated her time to local charities, helping at shelters and organizing art workshops for underprivileged children. Her compassion for others was truly remarkable, and she strived to make a positive impact in the lives of those around her.

Outside of her artistic pursuits, Shannon had a passion for travel and adventure. She loved exploring new places, immersing herself in different cultures, and creating cherished memories with friends and family. Her adventurous spirit led her to numerous destinations, and she relished sharing her experiences and stories with those she loved.

Shannon is survived by her loving parents, Mark and Susan Bennett, her younger brother, Ryan Bennett, and her beloved dog, Bella. She also leaves behind countless friends who will forever treasure the memories they created together. Shannon’s zest for life, kindness, and creativity will be missed deeply by all who knew her.

A celebration of Shannon's life will be held at the Alexandria Community Center on August 20, 2026. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honor the remarkable life of a beautiful soul who will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alexandria Arts Alliance to support local arts initiatives, a cause that was close to Shannon’s heart.
