Sara Simovich, beloved mother, grandmother, and wife, passed away on April 9, 2024, in Houston, Texas. She was born on December 3, 1936, to Mano and Tita Amarel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Sara was married to Enrique Simovich in 1956, and together they raised four children: Lina, Julieta, David, and Etelvina. She adored her family and was devoted to their well-being.
Throughout her life, Sara had many hobbies and interests. She had a passion for learning and was always eager to explore new subjects and ideas. She also loved hosting Shabbat dinners for her family and friends, creating warm and welcoming environments for all to enjoy.
Despite facing challenges, Sara always maintained a positive attitude and a strong faith in Judaism. Her resilience and grace inspired all who knew her.
Sara also always made a point of stating her Jewish credentials, dating to childhood: her family was religious, and she went regularly to synagogue. She was an active member of her congregation where she studied Hebrew. When she moved to Houston, she was a proud member of Congregation Beth Yeshurun, where she was an ever-present member in the front row on Shabbat morning services.
Over the past 31 years, Sara took on the role she will want to be remembered most fondly - Grandmother to five incredible individuals: Jennifer, Jason, Axl, Oliver, and Sean. To say she was the typical Jewish Grandmother would be a ridiculous understatement. Sara's delight in her grandchildren is legendary. She had distinct relationships with each grandchild as both infants, teens, and adults and treated them like the incredibly singular, wonderfully gifted, and individually superior people they are. Just ask her friends, whom she regaled with stories both brief and extended about honors achieved and challenges overcome. Unconditional love of her grandchildren, and their love of Sara will be the highest of her enduring legacies.
Sara passed away peacefully, and she is now free of pain and suffering. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to have known her.
