Sara Baucum LowdermilkA memorial service for Sara Baucum Lowdermilk will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at the Grace Community Church, 9400 Ellerbee Road, Shreveport, LA. 71106. Sara was born on June 18, 1942, in Longview, Texas to Joseph B. Baucum, Sr. and Helen Hines Baucum. She died September 1, 2017 in Shreveport, Louisiana.A native of Longview, Sara attended Judson schools graduating in 1960. While in high school she was active in athletics and band where she served as majorette and drum major. She attended North Texas State University and graduated from Baylor University with a B.A. in education. After teaching in Dallas and Lubbock fot ten years, Sara and her husband Bill moved to Shreveport, LA. It was there that Sara and Bill became very active in their church serving as directors of Bible Study groups. She was especially active as a prayer warrior in hospital visitations. Another love of Sara's was the competition afforded in golf at which she excelled. Sara won the Southern Trace Women's Championship, the Lubbock Amateur Championship, the West Texas Amateur Women's Championship, and the Shreveport Women's Amateur Championship.Sara is survived by her husband, Bill Lowdermilk of Shreveport, brother Dr. Joe Baucum, Jr., and wife Barbara of Longview, nephew Jay Baucum and wife Molly of Rockwall, TX. niece Stacy Baucum Robert and husband Peter of Greenwich, CT., two great nephews and two great nieces.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Community Church of Shreveport, LA 9400 Ellerbee Road, Shreveport, LA., 71106.
