Ruby Washington , 66, of Miami, Florida, passed on April 13, 2021. Ruby was born on July 03, 1954. As she was raised by her grandparents , Enda Gentle and Papa Willie Martin who gave her the name "Lollipop", Pop attended Peabody High School as part of the Class of 1972. Ruby was a mother to many. She gave everything in order to help everyone who came into her life. Lolli, was the life of the party and there wasn't anything boring about her. She was well loved in this community and admired by all. Ruby worked with the Rapides Parish Schools as a Cafeteria Worker. She and Wilbert J. Lee Jr. the love of her life (41Years) raised five beautiful children. Pop, had a smile and joy that was extremely contagious. If you had a minute, she would tell you a story and wouldn't dare leave a detail out. Matters where she had to go on a daily basis , miami was there, to ensure her a ride.
She was preceded in death by her parents Willie Edna Martin and Carl Ramsey; Husband Wilbert J.Lee Jr.; Son, Jimmy Ray Washington Jr. (JJ); Daughter, Cicely Brown(GiGi); Sister, Helen Martin; Brother, Anthony Stanfield; Special Nephew, Orlando Williams (Cups) and Son in Law, Velton Newman (Boo).
Ruby leaves to Cherish in her memories her Sons, Jermaine "Deon" Martin (Angelica) of La Marque, Texas; Kareem "Omar" Washington (Nicole) of Alexandria, Louisiana; Daughter, Kontona Lee Newman of Alexandria, Louisiana;Sisters, Brenda S. West (James) of Alexandria, Louisiana; Marilyn S. Fisher of Lake Charles, Louisiana;Debra Martin of Newark, New Jersey; Brothers, Charles Martin Sr. (Karen) and Charles D. Crawford all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Alvin Martin (Carolyn) of Alexandria,Louisiana; 3 Special Cousins, Coo, Rabbit, and Millie; Brother In Laws, Riley Joseph Lee Jr (Bridget) of Bald Knob, Arkansas;Harold Thomas of Detroit, Michigan;Sister-in-law's, Betty Williams and Diane Brown both of Alexandria, Louisiana;Special Nephew Kenneth Williams of Alexandria, Louisiana; 24 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 26, 2021, at West Flagler Baptist Church, in Miami, Florida. Public viewing and visitation will begin at 10 am with services beginning at 11 am.
Immediately following the services she will be taken to Plan Flagler Memorial Park, in Miami, Florida, for final committal rights.
