It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Melissa Keene-Cortez, a beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was born on August 6, 1980, in Whittier, Ca. United States, to her proud parents Emitt D. Keene and Constance E. Bennett.

Melissa's life was a testament to love, strength, and resilience.

She found her twin flame Alfonso Cortez Jr., and they embarked on a beautiful journey of love and togetherness. They would be celebrating their first anniversary of marriage on July 6th 2023 and forming a bond that was unbreakable and full of devotion. Together, they were blended and blessed with 2 furbabies who brought immense joy to their lives.

Melissa had one son Andrew Keene 23 .

Andrew went on to find his own happiness with his spouse Allena Jo Bruce-Keene, creating a loving and caring family. They made Melissa a grandma and blessed her with 1 beautiful grand-daughter and 3 handsome grandsons. Aris Bruce-5 , Wyatt Bruce-3, Arabella Jo Keene-1, Watson Matthew- 8 months.

Throughout her life, Melissa exemplified determination and a hunger for knowledge. She attended Woodrow Wilson Classical High School in Long Beach, California, where she received a well-rounded education and made lifelong friends. Graduating in 1999, Melissa's achievements didn't stop there. She further continued her studies, eager to expand her horizons, at the prestigious McCann School of Business and Technology.

Professionally, Melissa was a force to be reckoned with. Her dedication and hard work led her to a successful career at Evers & Sons, where she made invaluable contributions to the company. Her colleagues revered her for her expertise and admired her unwavering work ethic.

Melissa's life, however, was not without its challenges. Despite facing adversity in the form of cancer, she fought with unwavering courage and an indomitable spirit. Melissa's bravery and resilience in the face of such a daunting illness were truly remarkable, inspiring all who knew her.

On June 10, 2023, surrounded by loved ones, Melissa Keene-Cortez transcended this mortal plane, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be etched in our hearts. Her passing has created an immeasurable void, but her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched and the love she shared.

Melissa leaves behind her adoring family, friends, and relatives who will always hold her dear. While our hearts ache with the pain of her loss, we find solace in knowing that she lives on in the cherished memories we hold of her. May her soul find eternal peace.
