MARGERY L. BOLLMAN, 91 LENA - Margery L. Bollman, 91, of Lena passed away at 4:18 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at Provena St. Joseph Center in Freeport, IL. Margery was born on October 21, 1921, in Lena; the daughter of Dr. Lee Otis and Grace (Hawkins) Vickery. Margery graduated from Lena High School in 1939, where she always enjoyed performing in the many school plays of that era. She went on to attend Lake Forest College and Nurse's Training School, before dropping out to care for her ailing father. She married her beloved Peter J. (Pete) Bollman on May 16, 1942, in St. Louis Mo. They were married for 67 years before Pete's passing on November 14, 2009. They lived in the home they built right after World War II, less than a block away from her birthplace. During the war, Margery was a 'Rosy the Riveter' making batteries at Burgess Battery in Freeport. She enjoyed playing euchre, being active in many church activities and the Lena Women's Club. Margery also enjoyed traveling with her only sister, Virginia, and their husbands, and the time spent with her only brother, Dr. Eugene L. Vickery, and his family. Her most cherished time was with her family and especially her grandchildren. Margery is survived by her two sons, Michael of Lena, and John (Nancy) of Lake in the Hills, IL; her three grandchildren, Angela (Kyle) Hunter of North Liberty, IA, Joshua Bollman of Mequon, WI, and Jacob (fiancée, Abby Denault) of Godfrey, IL; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Kaylee; sister-in-law, Millie Vickery of Lena; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother and sister; and brother-in-law, C. Robert Brew. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013, at noon at the Leamon Funeral Home in Lena, IL. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in her name.
