LEONA E. HAWKINS was born in TUNICA MISSISSIPPI to the union of WILLIE E. HAWKINS AND RUTH C. HAWKINS. 

LEONA attended ROBINSONVILLE ELEMENTARY  SCHOOL IN 1936 and then proceeded to ROSA FORT HIGH SCHOOL. 

LEONA'S first job was as a house-keeper where she would learn several skills.  In 1968 she relocated to CHICAGO, ILLINOIS  and started a Career at the RAMADA HOTEL and remained there for twenty years. She was later promoted to Hotel Manager. After retirement, she opened a NEIGHBORHOOD candy store until the Lord called her home.

Leona accepted Christ at an early age attending first Baptist church In Tunica MISSISSIPPI.  Later In Chicago Illinois would she find a Church home Truth and Deliverance International ministries where she served under Reverend John T. Abercrombie as a faithful member of the choir also worked as an administrative assistant. 

Leona was loved greatly by those who were dear to her. She was deeply respected by many for her lovable affectionate Spirit. Her wisdom advice. And her soul food that filled many bellies for all type of celebrations and generations. She always thrived to stay busy and prompt. And A smile and heart of Gold.

Leona was preceded in death by her Mother RUTH HAWKINS AND FATHER WILLIE E. HAWKINS. one Brother Lawrence Hawkins. Three grandchildren: WILLIAM L MCGEE and Temika S. MCGEE  TUREE M. HAWKINS. 

Leona leaves to cherish her precious MEMORIES: one Daughter, Helen Gardner; two Sons, Walter Hawkins, Joe Hawkins Sr; 15 grandkids: Senca, Danyald, Hakeem, Marchello, Lashanda, Ebony, Sammy, Joe jr., Crystal, Carlos, Marvin, Malesha, Ambria, Jalesha, David Jr. Also a second generation of grand-kids; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
