LaDell (Sue) ButlerPlano, TXLaDell (Sue) Butler was born on February 20, 1932 in Hamlin, Texas. She passed away on March 28, 2017 in Plano, Texas at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 47 years, Ira Butler Jr.; her parents, Morris and Arah Jean; two brothers, Thomas William (T.W.) Jean, and Billy Jean; and her sisters, Wilda L. Hadwin and Sarah W. Thompson. She is survived by her daughter, Aleese; son-in-law, Darryl Moore; sister, Nina Beazley and husband, Bob; and two grandsons, Collin and Landon Moore.Sue grew up in Hamlin, Texas. The daughter of a farmer, she learned about hard work at an early age. As a teenager, Sue met Ira and the two married when she was fifteen. Happily married and working, Sue completed her high school years, graduating with top academic honors from Hamlin High. After high school, Sue worked as a nurse at Hamlin Memorial Hospital, and as an office nurse for Dr. Perrin. In 1957, she and Ira moved to Farmington, New Mexico where she worked for two years at Citizens Bank, then began her career in the oil industry working for Amoco. While in Farmington, the Lord blessed Sue and Ira with their daughter, Aleese. Sue and Ira relocated to Kalkaska, Michigan in 1976. While in Michigan, Sue continued working for Amoco and retired in 1986 after 27 years of service. She and Ira moved back to Texas in 1987, settling in Abilene, where they could be close to family. While in Abilene, Sue was a member and actively involved at Southwest Park Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and served as financial secretary for 10+ years. She also loved to serve as a volunteer with the Abilene Baptist Association Social Ministries. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers of Silverado Memory Care in Plano for the love and care they provided Sue over the past 4 1/2 years, helping to make every day the best it could be. A service celebrating Sue's life will be held at Southwest Park Baptist Church on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11:00AM. The family will be available for visitation at 10:00AM prior to the services. Graveside services will be held at the Hamlin Cemetery at 2:30PM in Hamlin, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Sue Butler to the Abilene Baptist Association Social Ministries at 2058 Marshall Street, Abilene, TX 79605.
