Jenny \"Sue\" Bowman died in her home on December 21st, 2017 in San Juan, PR, due to complications following lung cancer. She was 83. She was born on November 14th, 1934 in Taylorville, IL to her parents, Sam and Jane Bowman.

Jenny graduated from the University of Portland with a degree in Elementary Education in 1956. She married William Bowman in 1957. The Bowmans moved to Decatur where William worked as an accountant and Jenny taught the third grade. She retired in 2001 and dedicated her remaining time to educating and caring for her grandchildren. Ms. Bowman was a patient and supportive teacher with a passion for literacy and the arts. She taught vocal and piano lessons to young students. Inspiring creativity and dedication to others was her life-long goal.

Ms. Bowman is survived by her daughter, Kristy and three grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William; her sister, Lynn; and her daughter, Kate.

Ms. Jones will be buried in a private ceremony on December 27, 2017. A memorial will take place on December 26 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bowman Family Home. Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Ms. Bowman\'s life.
