Jama Finesetta was born on December 31, 1961, to Jefferson & Jeffalone Rumph in Vardaman, MS. At the age of two, the Rumph’s moved from Mississippi to Flint, Michigan where her parents joined Bethel United Methodist church. At Bethel, she was active in the youth choir, UM youth and helped the United Methodist Women. Jama graduated from Flint Northwestern High School in 1979. She then attended Alcorn State University where she graduated Cum Laude, met and married the love of her life, Arthur R. Baltrip, Jr. in June 1983. While at Alcorn, Jama marched in the “Sounds of Dynamite” and was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. To this union three children were born. (1) Stillborn, Arthur R. Baltrip, III and Ashton Opal Renetha Baltrip. In 1988, Kenneth Cedric Martin joined the family to round out the numbers to three. Jama agreed to raise her family catholic and promptly joined St. Francis Xavier in 1988 where she was a faithful member, sang in the choir, and a member and officer of the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary, Court #138.

Jama also attended Blueridge United Methodist Church under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Janice Gilbert. At Blueridge, Jama was an active member serving in the choir, United Methodist Women, SPPRC, and Gala Committee.

Jama had a smile that could light up a room, she loved the Lord, and her family. She was truly a servant in God’s Kingdom and was willing to help wherever she was needed.

Jama was preceded in death by her grandparents; Rev. CJL & Mrs. LD Rumph, Lindsey & Teretha Brantley, her parents, Jefferson A. Rumph & Jeffalone Rumph Vassal, brother Reid Turner and sister Damita Jo Turner-Bradley.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Arthur R. Baltrip, Jr., sons, Arthur R. (Safiya) Baltrip, III, Kenneth C. Martin and her daughter, Ashton (Daniel) Guerrero, along with her siblings, Renetha Rumph of Flint, MI, O. Roesha (Aubrey) Tooson of Tuscaloosa, AL, Lord (Madelyn) Turner of Clinton Township, MI, Constantia Turner Williams of Flint, MI, foster daughters – Stephanie (James) Disman and Meagen Oplinger, Grandchildren – Mason, Madison, Makai and Micah Guerrero, Trinity Martin, Zoe Raven, Beau, Jasper, Vivian and Benjamin. Nieces and nephews, Shelitria (Jeramis) Briggs, Gibbon (Denisha) Joseph, Jr., Chania, Cameron, Jordyn Roesha, Jayden and Morgan, Jasmyn and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
