Gwendolyn Smith, 60, of Birmingham, AL, passed February 7, 2018.

Gwendolyn Smith was born to Arnold Smith and Mary Ann Smith, June, 11 in Birmingham, AL. She graduated from Glen High School and proceeded to receive a Bachelor Degree in Education from the Lawson Community College in 1983. She married George Smith, they shared a marriage for 35 years. Together they raised 4 children.

She leaves as her legacy: Michael Hood, Derrick Hood(Nashelle Nelson), Tangela Smith, and Trina Hood. She also leaves to cherish her memory 8 grandchildren. Her children remember her as a problem solver, for she was known to make all problems go away.

Gwendolyn Smith was a(n) Middle School Literature teacher until she retired and moved to Atlanta, Georgia for the most part of her life, where she became passionate about affecting the most positive change in people with something as little as giving meals to the less fortunate.

A funeral is scheduled for February 11, 2018, at Bethel Baptist Church. A reception will follow at Arrington Funeral Home. Deacon John Smith will officiate the ceremony. The family requests that flower arrangements, etc be sent to Arrington Funeral Home, The family would also like to thank everyone for their condolences.
