SAINT AUGUSTINE - Beloved husband, father and grandfather Sergeant Major (Retired) Franklin E. Kirby passed away on October 14 at the age of 70 after complications from a bicycle accident that occurred on May 23, 2016. He was born on May 12, 1946 in Woodstock, VA and spent much of his youth in the Hershey, PA area. Frank Kirby proudly served in the United States
for over 28 years, mostly as a Combat Engineer. He spent more than half of his career overseas with duty in Korea, Vietnam and Germany. He retired in Williamsburg, VA and eventually made St Augustine, FL his home in 2010. He is survived by his wife Herta-Mar(Tina), his two sons Wolfgang and Kevin, their wives Amy and Christy, and six grandchildren that he adored Alex, Connor, Rebecca, Danielle, Aidan, and Kaitlyn. A viewing will be held at 10:00 AM on November 5, 2016 at Craig Funeral Home in St Augustine to be followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. SGM(R) Franklin E. Kirby will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Clyde E. Lassen State
