Dennis Goodapple, 80, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed on November 22, 2023. Dennis was born on September 02, 1943. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis Goodapple, a beloved member of the Roanoke community.

Dennis was a devoted family man, a true friend, and a pillar of the community. Throughout his life, he prioritized kindness, compassion, and generosity, touching the lives of countless people in the process.

As a young man, Dennis attended Roanoke High School, where he excelled both academically and athletically. He was known for his vibrant personality, quick wit, and infectious laughter. Dennis's love for learning extended beyond high school, as he later pursued higher education at Roanoke University.

Although his work was important to him, Dennis always made time for his loved ones. He treasured family gatherings and was often the life of the party, regaling everyone with his stories and unique sense of humor. His grandchildren adored their "Papa Dennis" and will forever cherish the memories they created together.

In addition to his professional and familial commitments, Dennis was an active member of his community. He volunteered at the local homeless shelter, dedicating countless hours to helping those in need. His selflessness and unwavering empathy made a lasting impact on those less fortunate.

Preceding him in death are Dennis's parents, John and Martha Goodapple. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Margaret; his children, David (Catherine) and Lisa (Michael); and his grandchildren, Aaron, Jacob, Emily, and Ethan. Dennis is also survived by his sister, Carol, and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Dennis Goodapple will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever remain a beacon of light in the hearts of all who knew him. His kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family and community will be cherished and celebrated for years to come.

A memorial service to honor and remember Dennis will be held at the Roanoke Community Center on November 25th, 2023, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Roanoke Homeless Shelter in Dennis's name.
