Colonel George Thompson, a highly decorated military officer and beloved member of the Bealton community, passed away on March 17, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on September 21, 1944, George dedicated his life to serving his country and his community with honor and courage. He was the beloved son of the late Kenneth George Thompson and Grace Kelce Kingston.

George joined the United States Army at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks, eventually achieving the prestigious title of Colonel. He served multiple tours of duty overseas, including in Vietnam and the Gulf War, where he demonstrated exemplary leadership and bravery under challenging circumstances.

Throughout his military career, George was recognized for his exceptional dedication and service, receiving numerous awards and medals for his courage and valor. He was a true patriot, always putting the needs of his country above his own and inspiring those around him to do the same.

After retiring from the Army, George settled in Bealton, Virginia, where he continued to make a positive impact on the community. He was actively involved in local veterans' organizations and charities, always looking for ways to give back to those who had served alongside him.

George was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to helping others. He was a loyal friend and mentor to many, always willing to lend a listening ear or offer a helping hand to those in need.

Colonel Thompson's love story with his wife, Lindsay Delaney Jones, spanned 57 beautiful years of marriage after they tied the knot on July 29, 1966. Lindsay now mourns the loss of her beloved husband, left heartbroken by his passing.

Colonel Thompson was a devoted father to his children, Ann Jennings (husband Tony) and Peter Thompson (wife Kelly). He was also a caring brother to Gabriella "Dutch" Susan Shaw. His legacy lives on through his 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, named Travis. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Malcolm John Thompson, and numerous siblings.

Per wishes no services will be held. A private burial will commence at Arlington Cemetery in late Summer.

Colonel George C. Thompson leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and dedication. His memory will be forever cherished by his family, including his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, sister, and extended relatives.
