Christine Middough was born on May 14, 1939, in South Hill, Virginia, to the late Benjamin Middough and Susie Hudgins Middough. One of seventeen children, she grew up surrounded by the love and strength of a large family. At the age of fourteen, Christine moved to New York City with her older siblings, carrying with her the values of hard work, determination, and family that would guide her throughout her life.

Christine never married and had no children of her own, but she was a motherly presence to so many. She loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own and took great pride in helping others succeed. Whether it was offering advice, encouragement, a listening ear, or financial support, Christine was always willing to help. She believed in people, often before they believed in themselves, and she found genuine joy in seeing others reach their goals.

In 1992, Christine turned her entrepreneurial vision into reality by founding C & M Company, a distribution business located on 33rd Street and Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. At a time when few African American women owned and operated businesses, Christine built a successful company through determination, courage, and an unwavering work ethic. She was proud of what she accomplished, and her success served as an inspiration to many.

While Christine worked hard, she never forgot the importance of giving back. She quietly supported numerous charitable causes throughout her life, especially those that benefited children. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital held a special place in her heart, and she remained a faithful supporter for many years.

To know Christine was to know strength, independence, generosity, and love. She was thoughtful, dependable, and deeply devoted to her family. She had a special way of making people feel seen, valued, and cared for. Her wisdom, honesty, and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

On June 7, 2026, Christine peacefully departed this life in Smithtown, New York, at the age of 87. Even in her final days, she remained strong, resilient, and true to herself.

Christine leaves to cherish her memory her beloved sister, Frances Goode; her sister-in-law, Shirley Middough; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Susie Middough, and her beloved brothers and sisters.

Christine was the heart of her family, a source of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love. The lives she touched, the opportunities she created, and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will never be forgotten.
