It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sadie Hunter, who entered into eternal rest on June 10, 2026, in Spring Valley, New York. Born on July 9, 1937, in the beautiful hills of St. Anne Parish, Jamaica, Sadie brought a vibrant spirit and a gentle warmth with her wherever she went. She was a cornerstone of love and a beautiful presence who will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. We take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Gerald, who just passed away on May 27, 2026.
Together, Sadie and Gerald built a beautiful life and a lasting legacy. Sadie was a devoted and nurturing mother to their five children: Janice, Donna, Kevin, Molly, and Dougie. With infinite patience and grace, she poured her heart into raising them, instilling enduring values of compassion, kindness, and integrity that they carry forward today.
Her warmth extended beautifully into her role as a doting grandmother. Her legacy continues to shine through her seven cherished grandchildren: Javone (and his wife, Ashly), Nadia, Jalan, Jaden, Nicole, Nadira, and Jalissa. Sadie was also blessed to welcome into her heart her one and only great-grandchild, Marly, in whom she took immense pride. She treasured every moment spent in their company, celebrating their milestones and supporting them unconditionally in all their endeavors.
Beyond her devotion to her family, Sadie possessed a passion for creating beauty, perhaps carrying the rich traditions of her Jamaican roots into her everyday life. She was an exceptionally talented seamstress, often found in her sewing room crafting intricate quilts and garments woven with love. Her kitchen was always a place of comfort, where she whipped up delicious, soul-warming meals for family gatherings. A true caregiver at heart, Sadie’s green thumb was evident in her thriving garden—a sanctuary bursting with vibrant flowers and lush vegetables that reflected her nurturing touch.
Sadie’s presence brought an undeniable warmth, love, and joy into our lives. Though she and Gerald have left our sight, their memory will forever be a guiding light and a source of comfort to their loved ones.
Rest in peace, dear Sadie. Your love remains with us always.
