Charles Edward Lyon, 78, of Houston, Texas, passed on November 08, 2023. Charles was born on August 20,1945. We mourn the passing of Charles Lyon who was a great man and helped many while here on earth and he had a deep love for all of his family and friends and would do anything possible to help the next person in need. Charles was an avid learner, a loving father, loving grandfather and friend. He had a zest for life and lived every day to the fullest.

Charles was a proud graduate of Strong Vincent High School in Erie, PA, class of 1963, furthering his education in accounting/finance in San Jose, CA in 1980. Charles was a proud attendee of the Houston Buffalo Soldiers organization, showcasing his commitment to community support and engagement.

Charles is survived by his children Charles Lyons II (Karen Lyons) and Charlita Lyons, his grandchildren Angel Brown and Gordon Thompson, great grandchildren Etta, Vanessa and Kelby Brown. He also leaves behind his stepchildren Undre (Katelin) Stewart -Erie, PA, Tierra King-Houston, TX and Yolanda (Rashad) Bateman - San Antonio, TX. Charles also leaves behind his step grandchildren Cerra King - Houston, TX, Elijah Stewart - Erie, PA, Emory King - Houston, TX, Parris Bateman - San Antonio, TX, Rashad Bateman Jr - San Antonio, TX and Amari Stewart - Erie, PA. Charles also leaves behind his two sisters Barbara Lyons and Jacqueline (Jackie) Lyons and Niece Tarra Wayne and Nephew's Stefon Lyons, Melvin Carr, Robert Carr and Theo Jones II. Charles also leaves behind Anita Lyons-Mossett and Gloria Stewart-Lyons who remained two of his loving/loyal best friends. We must also remember his two cats he grew to love White Paw and Calico. Charles was preceded in death by his father, Odis Lee Lyons and mother Mattie Dell Martin Lyons, whom he loved dearly and spoke about often. Charles also was preceded in death by his dear best friend, whom he talked about very often Joey.

Charles enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, to include watching CNN and ESPN all day, eating popcorn, reading a good book, working around the house and his number one passion ancestry/family tree search. He had an electric taste in music and particularly enjoyed "Shot Gun" by Junior Walker and also "Cool in the water" by The Williams Brothers. If you knew Charles, he made it known how big of a fan he was for the Pittsburgh Steelers, as he proudly screamed "Steeler Nation". One of his favorite movies was "Apocalypse Now", and he loved to play tennis, fish and sailing on his sailboat. Charles had a fun and happy personality with a pure love for life. Charles found a love for one of his favorites "Luby's" and he dined there so much that all the staff knew him personally and we honored him by all of us gathering at his Luby's of choice after his service. Charles did a significant amount of charity for the Wounded Warrior Project, and he will be remembered for his playful advice, "Don't step on Superman's toes".

Charles's greatest accomplishments were his family and his achievement as a CPA. He would want his legacy of love and family to be carried on by his son, Charles II. Charles will be remembered for his love and encouragement he provided throughout his life. He has left an indelible mark on all the lives he has touched. "Your story is the greatest legacy that you will leave to your friends. It's the longest-lasting legacy you will leave to your heirs." - Steve Saint

Charles, your joyful spirit and love for life will always be remembered. We thank you for the love and wonderful memories we've shared with you. May you now rest in peace and fly high Buffalo Solider as you have done your good deeds here on earth, as you blessed and impacted many.
