A life well lived

Bro. Arthur Thomas Mason was called home by the Lord on May 8, 2020 after enduring and battling a untimely illness. He was born February 28, 1951 to the union of Ernest Douglas and Mable Myrtle Mason. He was the youngest of their three children. He spent his childhood days in the Houston Heights area. He attended Eight Avenue Elementary School, Harper Jr. High Schoolrthur Thomas Mason was called home by the Lord on May 8, 2020 after enduring and battling a untimely illness. 

He accepted Christ at an early age. Bro. Mason united with Mt. Sinai Baptist Church located in the Houston Heights under the leadership of Dr. S. J. Gilbert Senior (Emeritus). Brother Arthur T. Mason was a devoted member of the Usher Board, Outreach Street Ministry, Sunday School, MIB – Men In the Bible, and Men’s Chorus. Because of his love for the Lord and commitment of sharing the road to salvation, Arthur became an active member of the Counsel’s Ministry. He served in all of these areas until his health began to fail.

Arthur Thomas Mason married Sister Vallorie Ann Pikes-Mason of Shreveport, Louisiana in on November 17, 1984. From this marriage they were blessed with one son, Arthur Douglas Mason,and two daughters Danielle Manson and Ivy Taylor.  He was a loving, caring, and generous father and husband. Arthur was devoted to uplifting and providing for his family throughout the years.

Bro. Arthur Thomas Mason worked at the former HL&P/Houston Lighting & Power Company/Centerpoint Energy for thirty years. During his tenure at the company, he was known to have perfect attendance and work ethics. After his retirement he worked for Apache where he did some industrial work till his passing. 

He was preceded in death by his two siblings Bobby Baker and Ernest Bubba Mason Jr., and nephew Harold Latson. He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife, Vallorie Ann Mason, son, Arthur Douglas Mason, sister, Ernestine Mason, sister in law, Linda Pikes, and brother in law, Anthony Pikes. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces and nephews; Barbara Latson, Shayeed Thomas and daughter Kaile Powell. Rodney Latson and wife Lakisha Latson and their children Jacerie, LaDarrius, BreAnne, Bryson, and Chloe Latson.
