Alan Lee Haynie, 58, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the International Medical Center in Cairo, Egypt, due to complications caused by cancer.Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at Martin and Castille Funeral Home southside location in Lafayette. A celebration of his life will be at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Brandon Miller of Family Life Church conducting the service. Eulogists will be Randy Haynie and Barbara Haynie Taft.He will be remembered always by his loving wife, Bonnie; his three daughters, Ellen (Robert) LeJeune, Colleen Blanchet and Rachel (Jonathan) French; and his eight grandchildren, Liam, Conner, Pierce, Foster, Elise, Ainsley, Sidney and Hunter. He will be missed by his parents, Bob and Celina Haynie; his brothers, Bruce of Houston, Texas, Randy (Daynese), Mike, Dale (Christine), and all of Lafayette; his sister, Barbara (Bill) Taft of Bloomington, Ill.; nephews, Lyndsey "Lenny" Haynie, Ryan (Alana) Haynie; niece, Dayna Haynie; and in-laws, Toni (Scott) Young, Danita Domingue, James Hayes and Henry (Brenda) Hayes.Alan was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Lelia "Sissy" Haynie and Louis and Hilda Machin.Alan was born on March 9, 1954, in New Iberia, the son of Bob and Celina Haynie, and spent his childhood in Houma. He married Bonnie Hayes, the love of his life for 34 years, on November 26, 1980 in Lafayette.His many friends, gathered from his work and life in Texas, Alabama, Louisiana, Arizona and Egypt, will remember the great times shared with Alan and the sweet sound of his laugh. Alan lived a full and rich life. He was active in the Boy Scouts, earning the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Acadiana High School in Lafayette, where he played on the varsity basketball team. Following high school, Alan served in the U.S. Navy and graduated from Northwood University in Dallas, Texas, with a degree in international business.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Suite 200, Lafayette, La. 70503 or on their website at www.HospiceAcadiana.com.Martin and Castille Funeral Home southside location in Lafayette is in charge of arrangements.
