Bill T. BREED Obituary

Sep 01, 2016 - Jan 15, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
BREED, Bill T.Bill T. Breed age 86 of Austin TX, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Sept. 27, 1930 on a ranch just west of Dripping Springs, Texas to Willie & Spurgeon Breed. He was the youngest of four children. Bill received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY after serving his country with honor in the US Navy during the Korean War, while stationed in Guam. In New Rochelle, NY he met the love of his life Doris Seiler. Married on Nov. 28, 1954, they were happily married for 62 years. A true heartwarming story of country boy meets city girl. Shortly after Bill and Doris were married, Bill started a career with Hooper Holmes, Inc. a publicly traded healthcare company where he climbed the ranks to become a Regional Vice-President managing many employees throughout the US. Employed there for over 38 years, he played a vital role in the growth of Hooper as their sales grew and the business flourished. Bill moved the family to Lake Charles, LA and then to Beaumont, TX and finally to Austin, TX where he planted his roots to raise his family. It was here that his love for the Texas Longhorns grew as he became a season ticket holder for the football and basketball programs. He bled orange and enjoyed following his Longhorns through national championships and TX-OU weekends. Bill loved all sports and was an accomplished athlete lettering in football, basketball, baseball and track during his high school years at Dripping Springs High School. After high school he enrolled in Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX and later transferred to Iona College, after his military service. He spent many years at the ball fields of Bartholomew Park coaching Little League teams at Delwood Optimist as well as serving as President for many years. Bill loved to write, travel, play golf, hang out with friends and brag on his grandkids. He looked forward to his monthly poker game with his friends. He was a devoted grandfather, husband, father and friend. Dependable, generous, witty, smart, punctual, engaging, kind and humble would be some of the characteristics one would use to describe Bill. He was loved by many and the rock of his family. Bill cherished his New York visits with Doris to NYC, Long Island and upstate New York. He fell in love with the Catskill Mountains, Woodstock, West Hurley, Peakamoose and Cooperstown. In Bill's later years he became a dedicated Meals on Wheels volunteer and an active member of St. Mary's Cathedral in downtown Austin. Having never met a stranger he was a generous giver to whoever needed a helping hand. He was a founding member of Sacred Heart Parish prior to joining St. Mary's and marveled at having put three kids through elementary parochial school. Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years Doris Breed and their three children and wives, Bill & Cynthia Breed of Austin, TX, John & Anna Breed of Austin, TX. and Carl & Kim Breed of Brenham, TX. along with his 7 grandchildren, Bianca, Danielle, Luke, Steven, James, Kristin and Zac, as well as his two great-grandchildren Kolton and Kason. The family would like to invite everyone to celebrate Bill's life with them on Sunday Nov. 20th from 3:00-5:00PM at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home located at 3125 N. Lamar Blvd. Austin, TX. 78705. A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM Monday Nov. 21st at St. John Neumann Catholic Church located at 5455 Bee Caves Rd. Austin TX. 78746. Following the service Bill will be buried at Phillips Cemetery in Dripping Springs, TX with refreshments and fellowship afterwards.
