Glod Sr.LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at 2:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for Walter Anthony Glod, Sr., age 92, who passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 6, 2017. Entombment will be in St. John Mausoleum. Reverend Chester Arceneaux, Rector of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette, will conduct the funeral services. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Loretta Anne Pitre Glod, his parents and siblings.Survivors include one son, Walter Anthony Glod, Jr., MD, and his wife Charla Gail of Lafayette; two daughters, Marie Annette Glod of Houston, TX, and Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Glod Seneca and her husband Ernest of Lafayette; five grandchildren, Katherine Glod Coffelt and husband Chad, Abigail Glod Boudreaux and husband Kyle, Charla Wagner Glod, Anthony Mitchel Seneca and Claire Elizabeth Seneca; and one great granddaughter, Charlie Claire Boudreaux, as well as his special sister in law, Elaine Pitre Richard, and several nieces and nephews.Walter was born on February 20, 1925 in Pittsburg, PA. and moved to Springfield, OH. as a teenager. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII as a bombardier/navigator in B17's, B24's, and B29's. After the war, Walter enrolled in Ohio State University and received a BS in Geology. He then earned a Master's in Geology from the University of Michigan. He worked as a petroleum geologist for SOHIO, Skelley, and Hugh Hawthorne before becoming an independent geologist. Walter was a long time member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Lafayette Geological Society. He was an avid sailor, twice serving as Commodore of Cypremort Point Yacht Club. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed by Brady LeBlanc on Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
