Harrison, age 90, of Bellevue passed away on October 22, 2017 at Eaton Community Palliative Care in Charlotte. Sheldon was born on December 29, 1926 in Kalamo Township to Charles Frederick and Leona Belle (Pierce) Harrison. He graduated from Bellevue High School with the class of 1944 and married Phyllis M. Cheeseman on July 14, 1950. They had 4 children and shared 67 loving years together until Phyllis' passing on June 23, 2017. After high school, Sheldon went on to earn his Master Plumber's license, making him the youngest licensed Master Plumber at that time. He worked for Walkinshaw Plumbing in Bellevue for a number of years before opening his own business, Harrison & Noble Plumbing, Heating and Well Drilling. Sheldon owned and operated the business for over 30 years before closing the doors in 1986. After that, Sheldon worked for the City of Battle Creek as a Plumbing and Mechanical Inspector. He also did Inspections for 5 Townships around Battle Creek. Sheldon was a lifetime member and past president of the Bellevue Conservation Club, as well as a member and past president of the Lions Club (where he was twice named "Lion of the Year"), member of the Moose in Marshall, Bellevue Citizen of the Year in 1972, past president of the Plumbing Inspectors Association of Michigan and member of the Mechanical Inspectors Association. Sheldon also enjoyed playing fast pitch softball, hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing and traveling to Las Vegas and reading Zane Gray novels. Sheldon is survived by his children, Charles (Sally) Harrison of Dimondale, Andrew (Brenda) Harrison of Bellevue, Thomas Harrison of Bellevue and Daniel (Cheryl Ulrich) Harrison of Jackson; grandchildren, Erin (Wes) Peart, Jessi (Bret) Flower, Marjorie (Sam) Dany, Patrick (Ali) Harrison and Jacki (Nick) Guajardo; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Joyce Harrison and Ann Harrison; brother-in-law, John (Linda) Cheeseman and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis; great-grandson, Ford Andrew Flower; and 10 brothers and sisters, James, Willard James, Wilma, Velma, Madelyn, Ivan, Mertice, Harriet, Eldon and William. Family will receive friends at the Craig Kempf Funeral Home, Bellevue Chapel on Wednesday October 25, 2017 from 2:00-4:00 PM & 6:00-8:00 PM. Funeral Services will take place at the funeral home on Thursday October 26 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Paul Wall officiating. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Bellevue where Sheldon will be laid to rest next to his wife.Family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be directed to the Bellevue Conservation Club.
