Shannon K. BennettBattle CreekShannon K. Bennett age 65, of Battle Creek passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017.  She was born on August 1, 1951 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the daughter of Russell and Treva (Schlosser) Willavize.  Shannon previously lived in Joelton, TN before coming to the Battle Creek area.  She was married to Russell Alton Mayo in 1966, the father of her two children; he preceded her in death on October 12, 1969.  She was then united in Marriage to Burdette Bennett in 1985 in Athens, Michigan.  Shannon owned and operated Shannon's Nails in Lakeview for many years, then worked as a Nail Technician at the Wattles Park Hair Salon.  She enjoyed going to the casino, sewing, animals, baking cookies at Christmas, and especially loved her grandchildren. Shannon is survived by her husband, Burdette Bennett of Battle Creek; daughter, Trina (Scott) Niecko of Battle Creek; son, Lonnie Mayo of Battle Creek; brothers, Steve (Karen) Clark of Battle Creek, Chris (Diane) Willavize of Battle Creek; sisters, Robin Wilson of Battle Creek, Jody Roth of Union City, Michigan; grandchildren, Chelsie Tupper and Darian Niecko, both of Battle Creek; two great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her mother and father; and a sister, Gloria Smelker. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home.  Funeral services are scheduled for  2:00 pm on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. Robert G.
