RUTHANN GAVINJanuary 19, 2017RuthAnn Gavin (Peetz), age 56, of Fort Myers, FL, passed away on January 19, 2017 following a long and courageous battle with cancer.She was born on March 29, 1960 in Flint, Michigan. RuthAnn graduated from Grand Blanc High School in Michigan in 1978 before earning her degree in Associate in Arts at Edison Community College, December 2002. She then received her degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan-Flint, December 2008. As a teenager, RuthAnn was Past Honored Queen of the Grand Blanc Jobs Daughters, and became a member of the Grand Blanc Order of Eastern Star, MI.RuthAnn was employed for many years as a medical and scrub assistant to Dr. David Gavin. She held the office of president of the American Society of Podiatric Medical Assistants, from 2007-2008. She also was a case manager at Crisis Intervention and Recovery Center in Canton, OH.RuthAnn is survived her husband, Dr. David Gavin. Also surviving are her parents, Linda and Eugene Peetz of Grand Blanc, Michigan; two children, Brandi Doane and Christopher Houser, both of Fort Myers, FL; four grandchildren, Katori, Shiann, Kilee and Caleb; sister, Sally (Randy) Dickinson of Grand Blanc, MI; her Uncles Ralph (Melita) Lewis of Michigan and Bob (Cathy) Lewis of Florida; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her grandparents and cousin, Matthew Lewis.The family wishes to thank all those at the Thompson Cancer Center in Knoxville, TN and also members at Joanne's House at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs, FL for all the professional care and support they provided during these most difficult times.A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord, 8121 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers, FL.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the for Breast Cancer Research, 4575 Via Royale, Fort Myers, FL 33919.Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907, 239-936-0555.
