Billy Ray Bailey

1948 - 2026

Billy Ray Bailey, 78, passed away on October 17, 2026, in Lecanto, Florida. He was born in 1948 in Alabama to Herman Sherman Bailey and Jewel Belmont Bailey.

Billy was a master flooring installer, and his craftsmanship took him to job sites all across the state. His skill was so well known that he was often called in for the most complicated projects, the ones others wouldn’t touch. He took great pride in his work, and the floors he laid will stand as a testament to it for years to come.

After retirement, Billy found his happy place in the Gulf Hammock woods. He loved hunting, running the dogs, and spending time at the camp with “the boys.” Those days, and the company he kept, meant the world to him. Most importantly, Billy has trusted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and we will see him again!

Billy is survived by his children, Calvin Eugene Bailey and Stacey Sherman Bailey; his grandchildren, Amanda, Faith, Isaac, Jayden, Jeb, and Willis; his great-grandchildren, Barbara Grace, Baylen, and Crew; and his sister, Delaine Jewel McFadden, and her children, Truman, Joe, Leona, Joy and her son Jacob. He also leaves behind extended family, including Debbie (Bill) Annus, Marie Howard, and Jerry Tipton, along with his loyal dog, Jake, and many friends who were like family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Sherman and Jewel Belmont Bailey; his daughter, Tammy Carline Forest; and his brother, Bobby Joe Bailey.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the home of Debbie Annus, 5139 Hills Pt., Lecanto, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Citrus County Animal Services.
