Roy "Red" J. Wipper, 87Clear LakeJanuary 27, 1930 - May 25, 2017Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at St. Marcus Catholic Church in Clear Lake for Roy J. Wipper, 87 of Clear Lake who passed away on Thursday at St. Benedict's Senior Community in St. Cloud. Rev. Virgil Helmin will officiate and burial will be at the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives may call from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 29, 2017 at St. Marcus Catholic Church in Clear Lake and also one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. St. Marcus Parish Prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. on Monday evening at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Clear Lake. Roy James Wipper was born on January 27, 1930 in St. Cloud to Simon and Marion (Hopke) Wipper. He was united in marriage to Rose Goenner on April 9, 1953 at St. Marcus Catholic Church in Clear Lake. He served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1954 - 1956.  Roy lived in Clear Lake for his entire life and was the owner/operator of many bars and restaurants, including the Palmer House, Cozy Corner and Country Tavern. He had a strong work ethic and was known for his hamburgers. Roy enjoyed bird watching and nature. Roy had a love for the game of baseball. He loved coaching, playing and being a spectator. Roy was competitive in nature and participated in bowling and cards. He was a fantastic card player, winning a couple "Whist" Championships. Roy will be remembered for his vegetable gardening, his practical jokes and great sense of humor. One of his most common phrases was, "Someday we'll all look back on this and laugh." Survivors include his sons and daughters, Marv (Jenny) of Clear Lake, Patricia (Tom) Lietha of North Mankato, Debbie (Dave) Leabch of Clear Lake, Donna (Rick) Lovitz of Lake George and Vernon (Angela Hoeft) Wipper of Clearwater; brothers, Gerald of Sartell and Gary Lee of Clearwater; thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rose in 2016; siblings, Irene Dierkes, Vernon Wipper, Hazel Leyk, Gordon Wipper, Leona Goenner, Glen Wipper and Carol Niedzielski; and grandson, Kevin Lovitz. Obituary, guestbook and video tribute available online: www.williamsdingmann.com
