Roy C. MartenRoy C. Marten, 88, of Sioux Falls, passed away at Prince of Peace nursing home on Monday, October 31, 2016. Roy was born on October 5, 1928, to Herbert and Hulda (Wesenberg) Marten. After graduating from Canova High School in 1946, Roy farmed and served in the US
from 1951-1953. He married Mary Lou Schlobohm on June 12, 1955. Roy managed lumber yards in Badger and Canova before joining Farmland Industries as a Sales Specialist in 1972. The family moved to Webster in 1975. From 1986 until his death, he was an independent salesman of promotional products. Roy and Mary Lou moved to Sioux Falls in 1992, where he was active at Our Savior's Lutheran Church and in the Singing Legionnaires, the American Legion chorus. He is survived by his children, Jim (Linda), Milwaukee, and Jane (Randy) Ruud, Sioux Falls; his grandchildren, Lauren (Matt) Marten Parker, New York; Eli Marten, Milwaukee; and Brandon, Sioux Falls; brother, Harvey (Donna), Castle Rock, CO; and seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Lou, and infant twin grandsons, Aaron and Nathan Ruud.In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Our Savior's Lutheran Church Television Ministries or to Sioux Falls American Legion Baseball.A funeral service for Roy will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Visitation with family present will be Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home.
