This obituary is administered by:
A life well lived
Rose S. Pouncey, 79, of Houston, Texas, went to be with the Lord on September 6, 2022. Rose was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on December 16, 1942. She is preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Elleen Sheranko. Rose is survived by her daughter Belinda Keenen and son Alton R. Pouncey, II; her grandchildren Lexa Wakefield (nee. Keenen), Daniel Keenen, and Zachary Keenen; and two younger brothers Danny and Dwight Sheranko.
Rose moved to Houston, Texas, with her parents and brothers in the late 1950s. In 1960, she graduated from Sam Houston High School in Houston, Texas, where she was a Majorette. She also played the accordion. In 1963 she began her career at Ashland Oil. They were bought by Esso which is now known as Exxon. She worked for Exxon for 35 years retiring in 1999 as an Executive Assistant. She attended Houston Community College throughout her career with Exxon. She volunteered for several years at the local library teaching adults to read. Her second language was Shorthand. Whenever she didn't want her kids to know what she was writing she would make her notes in Shorthand. She was better than a tape recorder if you needed someone to be with you at a doctor's visit - she captured every word spoken.
One of her favorite activities was bowling in leagues around the city. She was a member of a family of bowlers. In retirement, she enjoyed volunteering in the library at her local senior center.
There will be a remembrance gathering at Rose's favorite restaurant, Whataburger, on February 18, 2023, at 2:00 pm located at:
18004 Highway 59 North Humble, TX 77396
