SochorPortlandRobert John Sochor, "Bob," age 86, our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Papa, passed away peacefully at his home on July 17, 2017, after a courageous battle with Leukemia. He was born on December 17, 1930 in Ionia, Michigan, the son of Paul and Anna (LaPar) Sochor. Bob graduated from Ionia High School in 1948 and married Rosalie "Toots" Leik on July 26, 1952 in Portland, Michigan.Bob was a dedicated family man, had a love for the outdoors, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hiking and was a passionate woodworker. After retiring from Spartan Motors in 1991, Bob developed his love for painting and cooking. Bob wore many hats in his family, but his prize role was Papa, always lead by example, and was a very hard worker.He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rosalie; children, Debbie Ward, Sherry (Harry Krug) Keyes, Lynne (Jeff) Russell, Tim (Sue) Sochor, and Scott (Dawn) Sochor; grandchildren. Heather (Brett) Steinbacher, Becky (JR) Wood, Sara (PJ Dalton) Ward, Brad Finkbeiner, Coty McNees, Ryan (Katie) Russell, Mandi James, Kendra Sochor, Kelsie (EJ) LaFreniere, Rob Sochor, Victoria Sochor, and Tyler Sochor; great-grandchildren, Evan, Brayden, and Blake Steinbacher, Alexis, Espen, and Addison Wood, Clark James, Jack and William Dalton, Lucas and Greyson Russell, and Collin and Nora LaFreniere. Bob is also survived by his brother's, Stanley, Charles, and Harry and his sister, Nancy. Fr. Larry King will officiate the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 21, 2017 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. Interment will immediately follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Lehman Funeral Chapel.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Patrick's Parish, Portland Senior Center, or Mary Free Bed Hospital.
