ROBERT HARRINGTON SR., 67 FREEPORT - Robert Harrington, Sr., 67, of Freeport, died Thursday June 12, 2014 at SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford. He was born on October 23, 1946 in Freeport, IL, the son of LaVern and Dorothy (Veer) Huenefeld. He married Nancy Maurer on November 22, 1969 in Freeport, IL. Robert drove school bus and also was an over rode driver. He was a member of Laurel Street Church of God and the Eagles Club. He was a history buff, and enjoyed metal detecting, hunting, fishing, sightseeing, and drawing. Robert is survived by his wife, Nancy Harrington of Freeport, Il; his son, Robert Harrington, Jr., of Freeport, Il; three daughters, Nanci (Douglas) Hoppe of St. Petersburg, FL, Tammy Herbig of Freeport, IL, and Tara (Brandon Barragan) Harrington of Freeport, IL; 13 grandchildren, Scott, Zak, Ali, Gabriella, Lindsay, Hannah, Raven, Oden, Dante, Steven, Samantha, Chase, and Caden; and two great-grandchildren, Mason and Caleb. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step father (who raised him), Staff Sergeant Charles Harrington. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.
