Rex A. VanHornSANDUSKY: Rex A. VanHorn, age 64, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 4:17am in the Emergency Room of Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.Rex was born on August 31, 1952 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio to Glen E. VanHorn, Sr. and Myrtle E. (Pryor) VanHorn, both of whom are deceased. His step-mother is Jean Kraus VanHorn of Upper Sandusky. He married Rebecca "Becki" Balliet on April 3, 1971 in the Nevada United Methodist Church and she survives. He is also survived by three sons: Jason (Kathie) VanHorn of Wharton, Ohio, Aaron (Shelly) VanHorn of Wharton, Ohio, and Ryan (Brenna) VanHorn of Upper Sandusky, Ohio. Rex is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Carson, Kendall, Hayley, Grace, Allison, Kylie, Revan, and Amelia and one great grandchild, Zephan. A brother, Loren "Luke" (Karen) VanHorn of Upper Sandusky and sisters, Sharon A. "Annie" Seifert of Crawford, Ohio, Beverly (Gary) Patterson of Upper Sandusky and Karen S. VanHorn of Upper Sandusky also survive as well as five stepsiblings: Teri Myers of Upper Sandusky, Michael (Deb) Kraus of Grand Prairie, Texas, Amy (Frank) Lemmon of Versailles, Ohio, George (Martha) Kraus of Tiffin, Ohio, and Joe (Cindy) Kraus of Upper Sandusky, Ohio. A sister-in-law, Melinda VanHorn of Grove City, Ohio also survives along with a special uncle, LB Adkins of Upper Sandusky. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers William VanHorn and Glen "Butch" VanHorn, Jr. Rex was a truck driver since the age of 16, and was a partner in a variety of businesses: Wyandot Industries, Alpha Warehouse and Distribution, Rexlor Trucking Company, and The Village Restaurant, all located in Wyandot County.Rex attended Upper Sandusky Schools and was of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed sports, especially the Buckeyes and the Atlanta Braves; he enjoyed going to car shows and he loved horses. Funeral services for Rex VanHorn will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 2 at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Chaplain Steve Sturgeon officiating. Burial will follow services at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2pm-8pm on Monday, May 1 at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.Memorial contributions may be made to the Upper Sandusky Ram Boosters or to a and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S.
