We are saddened to announce the passing of Phyllis Smith, who was born on April 20, 1951, in Castleberry, Alabama, United States. She peacefully passed away on August 5, 2025. Phyllis was the beloved daughter of Odell and Cupidine Whitehead.

Mrs. Phyllis Patricia Darby Smith age 74 of Castleberry, passed away Tuesday August 5, 2025, at her Castleberry residence. Mrs. Smith was a native and longtime resident of Castleberry and was a retired office manager with Monroe County Hospital. She attended London Baptist Church and was a 1969 graduate of Conecuh County High School. Mrs. Smith loved going to the mountains in the fall to see the leaves changing color with her best friend Carol Odom and other friends. She enjoyed fishing, camping on the river and shopping for her grandkids. She loved to sit around and reminisce about the old days but most of all she loved her family deeply and helping those who were in need.

Survivors; Sons, Feodore Crockett Sr (Martha Crockett) Jean Crockett, Chris (Sara) Smith of Castleberry, Joey (Karla) Smith of Brewton, Brother, Jerry (Tammy) Darby of Eureka Landing, Ala, 4 Grandchildren, Addison Smith, C.J./Feodore Crockett Jr. Henry Smith, Reese Smith, Bradi Smith, Courtney Crockett. Special Friend, Carol Odom of Castleberry, numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

Preceded in death by her parents, Odell and Cupidine Whitehead Darby, Husband of 53 years, Ronald Melvin Smith, Brothers, Dennis Darby, Kenneth Darby, Gary Darby, Bobby Darby, Sister, Sheila Nelson.

Funeral services for Mrs. Phyllis Patricia Darby Smith will be held Friday August 8, 2025, at 11:00AM from the Chapel of Craver's Funeral Home Inc, with Brother Robert Knowles officiating. Interment will follow in London Baptist Church Cemetery with CRAVER'S FUNERAL HOME INC OF BREWTON DIRECTING.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening August 7, 2025, from 6 until 8PM at Craver's Funeral Home Inc.
