Peggy Jean MerrittPrincess Anne-Peggy Jean Merritt, 65 of here passed away Friday, February 3, 2017 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. She was born on July 11, 1951 to the late Louis W. Courts and Esther Mae Smith. Peggy was an administrative assistant for Health South for 19 years and worked for many years at Mercantile/PNC bank. She served as chairman, co-chair and team captain for the Somerset County and was well loved by all who knew her. Peggy is survived by her former husband and best friend, Alfred Merritt of Princess Anne, a brother, Donald Courts and his wife Belva of Jacksonville, Fla., step-daughters Sheila Smith (Shawn) of Chesapeake, Va., Heather Milligan (Steven), and Cristi Witt (Buddy) of Princess Anne, step grandchildren, Zack Smith, Jacob Milligan, and Cooper and Sawyer Witt. She also leaves behind her 6 cats.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her David Courts and a sister, Jeanette Courts.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Walker Memorial Church of God in Princess Anne where friends may call from 12-2 P.M. Reverend Tim Shawyer will officiate. A Celebration of Life will also be hosted by Health South, 220 Tilghman on Wednesday evening, February 8, 2017 from 7-9 P.M.
