Patricia Ann (Smith) LewisNEWARK: Patricia Ann (Smith) Lewis, 62 of Newark died in her home as a result of natural causes on June 4, 2017. She was born on April 27, 1955 in La Puente, California, to Phines Hall Smith and Betty (Martin) Miller.She is survived by her daughters, Hollie D. (Shaun) Linton of Newark and Christie Lewis of Louisiana; a son Brock Lewis of Newark; a brother, David (Marti) Smith of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; three sisters, Debbie Sue Smith of San Diego, CA, Frances Smith of Bonsall, CA and Tammy Miller of North Carolina; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Willie H. Lewis, Jr. (September 17, 2016).Patricia was known for her creativity and talent in many areas. Facing many self-imposed obstacles, Patty struggled to excel. She lived her life attempting to balance the complexities of behavioral health and substance use difficulties.She will be remembered by her children as a mother who did the best she was able and when her ability was unable to match her best, it was her magnetic personality that often bridged the gap. Patty may have been short on "I love you and I am sorry" to those for whom it mattered most. She would likely hope to be remembered for her commitment and support for her younger children and grandchildren. Patricia, like most people, had areas of opportunity for growth. Although she could be difficult to love, she was a mother, sister, aunt, friend and daughter. She deserved acceptance and forgiveness. Patricia may not have always been everything people needed her to be; certainly, she gave the journey of life all she had. "So though we may have been close in distance and our hearts often worlds apart, I do love you, Mom. I believe you are both apologetic and proud of your children's successes."The family will welcome guests from 3-7 pm on Saturday, June 10, 2017 to celebrate the life of Patricia at My Place Event Services, 1335 E.
