Orvis Utopia Sigler, Jr.Orvis Utopia Sigler, Jr. passed away on December 31, 2016, at his home in Shreveport, LA. He was born on June 22, 1922, in Springfield, MO, to Orvis and Betty Inman Sigler. Mr. Sigler was happily married to his high school sweetheart, Doris Simmons Sigler for 25 years, who preceded him in death along with their son Steven Orvis Sigler. Surviving him is his wife of 46 years, Joanne Sherrod W. Sigler, his daughters: Susan Sigler Updegraff Templeton (Houston, TX), Sally Sigler and Dick Bruer (Madison, Al), Anne Whittington and Jacques Lasseigne (Shreveport), and Liz Whittington Shaw (Tyler, TX), his grandchildren: Erica Updegraff and Frank Bracken (Ft. Worth, TX), Dru and Jaime Updegraff (Longmont, CO), Elizabeth Bruer, Chris and Teresa Bruer (all of Madison, AL), Christen Lasseigne, (Sacramento, CA), Scott and Sara Lasseigne (Shreveport), Connor Shaw (Tyler, TX), and 12 great grandchildren. Orvis has donated his body to the LSU-Anatomical Society, of the LSU-Medical School. His memorial service will be held January 7, 2017, at 1:00 pm, at Kings Hwy Christian Church. Special seating will be reserved for any of Orvis' former athletes.
