Michelle Shelton, 47, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 24, 2020 after a courageous battle with breast cancer with her family by her side. She was born May 2nd, 1973 in Covington, KY a son to Mary Suzanne McCormack Shumate (Bill) and the late James Walker Shelton. Michelle was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, class of 1982, and continued her education at University of Kentucky, receiving her Undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky in Film Studies. Michelle was baptized Catholic and a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She was a tennis enthusiast and member of a variety of tennis clubs throughout the Region over the years including University of Kentucky, Nashville, and Louisville. She was also on the HOA of Glenview Springs. Michelle was an avid reader and art enthusiast and enjoyed traveling every opportunity she had. She had a passion for film, concerts and foods of all kinds, but especially tennis with her many dear friends and family. But above all, Michelle dedicated her life to her family, and to providing them with experiences and memories that they will cherish for a lifetime. She taught them to live life to its very fullest. Michelle is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Mark Shelton; three children, Walker, Laney and Henry; mother, Mary Suzanne Shumate (Bill); siblings, Jim Whitman, Jill Ditzel, and Scott Whitman. She also leaves, to cherish her memory, her loving extended family in Chicago, Illinois and several adoring nieces and nephews locally. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 3345 Lexington Road. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, “in St. Matthews.” Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers may be made to the University of Louisville J.
