Merle F. HartwigNorwalkMerle Hartwig, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Methodist Hospital. Merle Floyd was born on June 23, 1929 to Ella (Danner) and Perry Hartwig in Mantua Township, IA.Merle lived in What Cheer for a while and settled in Des Moines in 1949. Merle was a carpenter for over 30 years for Jewett H Lumber and worked at Mercy Hospital in maintenance for 7 years before retiring in 2005. Merle enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and reminiscing about old times. He treasured the time he spent with grandsons, Skyler, Aaron and Cameron. He lived in Norwalk, IA. the past four years with his daughter, Brenda Fisher.Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Brenda Fisher and son, Ed Baker; brother, Larry Hartwig; and other loving family and friends.Services will be held at a later date.
