He was born on January 26, 1959 in Elkton, MD to Marietta (Garrett) Dickerson and the late Burton R. Dickerson, Sr.Matthew graduated Newark High School with the class of 1978. He was a manager of an auto repair facility and later went on to be the manager of an auto body facility. Matthew enjoyed playing softball in various leagues throughout the area. He loved animals of all kinds, and animals loved him.Matthew is survived by his mother, Marietta Dickerson of Newark, DE; five brothers: David T. Dickerson and his wife, Debra; Philip J. Dickerson and his wife, Peggy; Joel L. Dickerson; Burton R. Dickerson, Jr. and his wife, Leana; and John F. Dickerson and his wife, Tracy all of Newark, DE; aunt, Sr. Belle Garrett of Philadelphia, PA; and many nieces and nephews.A visitation will be held between 6PM and 8PM on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711. A celebration of Matthew's life will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 11AM at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home.
