Mary P. Westman1921-2017Mary Powell Westman, 95, born on July 11, 1921 in Norfolk, Va. to William and Blanche Powell. She went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 25, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, William and George Powell, and her husband of 71 years, Elwin T. Westman.Mrs. Westman was employed by Sears during WWII and later by Eglin Federal Credit Union. She was a charter member of Cinco Baptist Church in Fort Walton Beach, FL where she played the organ and sang in the choir. She also helped her husband do odd jobs at the church. She definitely had the gift of giving, whether it was financial or giving of her time and talents. She and her husband managed their money well so they could help others. She always had a good sense of humor to lighten the day. If you cared to listen, she would pass on a nugget of wisdom that would guide you through life. She is survived by her sister, Dot Grandstaff, two children: Patricia (Jim) Benes and Larry T. (Melissa) Westman; grandchildren: Diane (John) Duncan, Sherry (Darren) DeSorbo, Cindy (Ewintario) Nielsen and Andrew (Samantha) Westman; five great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home, immediately followed by a service.Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.Express your condolences in our guestbook at pnj.com/obits
