It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Murphy, who left us on May 18th, 2023, leaving a legacy of laughter and joy. Mary was born on May 3rd, 1969 in Richmond, Virginia to Nolan Murphy and Carolyn Jones.

Mary had a heart of gold and was the life of every party. She knew how to bring light to the darkest of days and never failed to make everyone around her feel loved and appreciated. Her partner, Don Taylor, was her rock, and together they raised two beautiful children, Tiana Murphy and Brianna Smith. Tiana married Levi Owens, and Brianna married Jah'mari Smith, and they gave Mary three grandchildren who she adored.

Mary attended Thomas Jefferson High School and graduated in 1988. She later continued her studies at Reynolds Community College, where she earned a degree in Education. Over the years, Mary held various jobs, but her true calling was working as an EC teacher. Even after retirement, she continued to volunteer and help students through the Salvation Army organization.

Though Mary may no longer be with us, her spirit lives on in those she touched throughout her life. Let us remember her with fond memories and celebrate the impact she had on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
