Mary Philips , 83, of Winston Salem, North Carolina, passed on March 31, 2023. Mary was born on March 21, 1940 to Joseph and Marily Lee- Phillips as their 3rd born. Having a gift in the art of literature, Mary went on to graduate high school and college in 1963 after local Salem college desegregated. Overcoming racial bias Mary went on as a first generation college graduate to become a teacher for many years. In the classroom and in life, she has taught us many lessons and none more so than her children. Being survived by three children (Marilyn Loyd, Alicent Randing and Michael “Mike” Loyd, multiple grandchildren (Jacorey, Kareem, and Ka’Nai Randing, Aubrey and Shaniya Parks). Mary although passed on, was nothing shy of full of life while she was with us. In her memory we honor her and dedication to her community and family. We will forever miss her.
