Marie A. Jensen RACINE — Marie Almeda Jensen (nee: Atkins), 90, passed away peacefully Friday, February 13, 2015. Marie was born on October 1, 1924 in Sigel, WI to the late Kenneth Earle and Anna Cecelia (nee: Hedin) Atkins. She was united in marriage to Lowell Edward Jensen on December 27, 1947 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Sigel, WI. Marie worked as a registered nurse until retirement. She was a faithful, longtime member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Racine, serving as a member of the altar guild. She loved to help others and volunteered at both Jefferson School helping kids to read, and at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints. Marie was a world traveler who enjoyed sewing and playing bridge. One of her favorite hobbies was gardening, and she was a devoted member of the Racine Garden Club. Marie will be deeply missed by her sons, Marcus (Cheryl) Jensen of Racine, and Brian and Philip Jensen of Minnesota; grandsons, Zachary and Alan Jensen; sisters, Arlene Keehn of Wisconsin Rapids, and June (Don) Graesser of Texas; brother, Eldred (Natalie) Atkins of Minnesota; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Betty Jensen. Marie also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth Earle and Anna Cecelia Atkins; her loving husband, Lowell; and her son, Steven. Funeral services for Marie will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, at 2417 Drexel Avenue, at 11am with Rev. Elias Nasari officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 10am until the time of service at 11am. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
