Lydia Rebecca Chapman1960-2017Lydia Rebecca Chapman, 57, of Pace, FL passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017. Becky was born on July 30, 1960 in Thomasville, GAThe birth of a "down syndrome baby" is often a bittersweet blessing, due to the unknown challenges ahead. Becky never met a stranger, was never affected by social bias, and was loving, kind and accepting to all she encountered.Becky taught more than she learned in life although she far exceeded her expected success. Becky graduated school and was an avid over achiever. Our family has been blessed beyond or deserving to have Becky in our lives. We have seen the world through innocent eyes and strive to the Christian example Becky is. Becky loved her life and taught everyone to; cherish what you have, be grateful for what you can do, work hard, accept everyone , press forward in a positive direction, wear what you want, never see yourself as anything but beautiful, with no alterations needed, sing loudly and love our father in heaven and family immenselyOn Thursday, September 14, 2017, Becky, after a sudden illness was met with the loving arms of her parents, Norman Nephi Chapman, Sr. and Helen Barbara Chapman, who preceded her in death. Becky was so proud and loved her family that remains in this mortal life; brothers, Norman N. Chapman, Jr., wife, Helen, of Pace, FL, Glenn B. Chapman, wife, Lonnis, of Middleburg, FL, Daniel M. Chapman, wife, Wanda of Gulf Breeze, FL and Michael V. Chapman, wife, Sherry, Pace FL, whom inherited Becky and welcomed her into their family home since the passing of her parents in 1991. Becky loved each and every niece, nephew and their families and referred to them as the grandkids. Becky resided in Perry, FL until her family moved to Pensacola, FL in 1962 and Pace, FL since 1991 until her passing. Becky was a faithful member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She graduated school from Petre and worked with ARC Gateway at Armstrong Textiles and Pollok Industries until she retired.Becky also attended ARC Day Program in Milton, FL.Becky was thankful for everyone that helped her achieve all of the "Mt. Everest" in her life. Becky was an avid bowler, swimmer, square dancer and home entertainer, Becky debuted her talents in multiple Special Olympics, winning numerous gold, silver and bronze medals. Becky's love was square dancing with "The Pensacola Steppers" showing the enormous possibilities that the handicapped population can achieve. She traveled extensively with the group and felt it as an honor to out dance Governors, Senators and seasoned adult dancing groups.Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be 11:00am on Monday, September 18, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 9th avenue Chapel.Nephews will honor Becky as pallbearers. The family could not have absorbed the quickness in which Becky departed this mortal life, without the ECU, ICU nurses, tech and Physicians at Santa Rosa Medical Center in Milton. We will forever be humbled for their care, compassion and outstanding medical care in one of life's most difficult times. Thank you.Express your condolences in our guestbook at pnj.com/obits
