Linda Maurine Patterson Obituary

May 08, 1942 - Dec 08, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
Linda Maurine PattersonLinda Maurine Patterson, age 74, died on December 8, 2016 at the Meadow Lake Nursing Home in Tyler, Texas after an acute illness. She was born on May 8, 1942 to Horace and Maurine Thomas and was the 6th of seven children. After graduating from Carthage High School where she was a cheerleader, she attended Tyler Junior college and danced as an Apache Belle. She completed her teaching degree at the University of Texas at El Paso and taught elementary school in Galveston for 4 years. She moved back to her hometown of Carthage in 1967 where she resided as a wife, mother, and homemaker. During her time in Carthage, she was the founder of the 32 club, a dinner club that is still in existence. In 1979, she moved to Shreveport where she resided until 2002 before returning to Texas. Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Joseph Thomas; and her daughter, Dedie Patterson. She is survived by her former husband, Eugene (Bubba) Patterson; her daughter, Maurie Rosen and her son in law, Lane Rosen; her son, Trey Patterson and his former wife, Valerie Patterson; her siblings- Horace Jr. Thomas, Richard Thomas, Arona Bryson, Elizabeth Kemp, Mary Joyce Cassity; and her eight grandchildren-Yale Rosen, Harrison Rosen, Taylor Rosen, Alexander Patterson, Sebastian Patterson, Francesca Patterson, Pierce Patterson, and Sophia Patterson. Linda will be remembered for her strong, outgoing personality and her creative spirit. She was a born director and was known for her big ideas and her ability to engage others in bringing these ideas to fruition. People were drawn to her for her charismatic personality and her love of a good story. She was stubborn to a fault and really believed no doctor knew more about her health than she did. She lived life on her own terms and died directing everyone around her in regards to her last wishes. She was a strong presence in our family that will be sorely missed. Funeral services will be held in a graveside ceremony at Restland Memorial Park Cemetary at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday December 11, 2016 with the Brother Pete William officiating under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. The family would like to extend its gratitude to all the staff at the Meadow Lake Nursing Home for their attentiveness and loving care. Memorials may be made in Linda's name to the charity of the individual's choice.
