Laurel AndersonLaurel L. Anderson, 95, of Madison, passed away on October 30, 2016 at Bethel Lutheran Home in Madison. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 5, at Salem Lutheran Church at Center. Visitation will be held at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem beginning at noon on Friday with family present at 5:00 pm and a prayer service to begin at 7:00 pm. Laurel Anderson was born on April 30, 1921 near Salem, SD to Arthur and Mabel (Olson) Anderson. He graduated from Salem High School and went on to farm for the rest of his life. He married Mae Jean Schroeder on December 22, 1941 at Salem Lutheran Church at Center. Laurel was a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church at Center where he served as treasurer for many years, as well as serving on various church boards and singing in the choir. Family was most important to him. He also enjoyed spending time with friends. Laurel helped build the Center ballpark and loved being a part of the softball leagues there. Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Sherry (Dave) Novotny of Apple Valley, MN, Jim (Sheila) Anderson of Winfred, SD, and Rhon (Sarah) Anderson of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Lisa (Mike) Corbin, Mark Novotny (Connie Uecker), Scott Gutzler, Shelly (Cliff) Kolb, Pam (Chuck) Coffman, Jacob (Kristi) Anderson, Matthew Anderson (Shelby Duffield) and Elizabeth Anderson; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Delores Jackson of Salem, SD, and several nieces and nephews.Laurel was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mae Jean, and one brother, Virgil. www.kinzleyfh.com
