Soon after, he moved to Decatur, IL to work as a Utility Laborer at Archer Daniel Midland (ADM) for 19 years. He is the second of three beloved children to Frank and Frankie Luckett of Country Club Hills. Besides his parents, Larry leaves behind his beautiful daughters, Te'Sandra Phillips and Bonnie Bell, his sisters, Tina Briscoe (Anthony); Francine Luckett (Dwayne Shumate); and Leticia Gholson (Aaron), his grandmother AnnieMae Butler, his favorite uncle Alex Dawson, his cousins who were like his brother and sister, Paris Williams and Dominique Dawson, his precocious nephews and nieces, Miles "Boobie", Justin, Franklin, Cheyenne, Jazmyne, Arianna, Paris and Aaron Jr. and many other loving family members and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his son Orion Phillips, his grandfather Samuel Gene Butler, his grandmothers Agnes Hill, Hazel Luckett, and Marie Luckett, his great grandmother Georgia Hill and his very special auntie Sandra Yvette Butler-Dawson.
Larry's last days were filled with a lot of uncertainty but he always thought about his family and truly wanted peace. His mother, as his part-time nurse, helped to make his last days at home as normal as possible by providing his favorite foods, taking care of his needs, bringing comfort, and an occasional fight over the television. His dad made sure Larry had the support and security of making every appointment and procedure, getting his medication, and bringing closure to some of his affairs. It is our belief, God provided a place of comfort with his parents before his final resting place and to God be the Glory!!
The family would like to thank all the health care professionals from Loyola Medical Center for their great care in the last couple of months of his life and are sincerely grateful to the very special nurse assistants who comforted and cared for him in his last days.
Larry was an amazing father, brother, uncle, and loving son. He will be forever remembered for his beautiful smile, gentle eyes, and caring heart. His love for sports especially basketball and his passion for playing PlayStation games with his nephews. His obsession for wearing baseball caps, sweats, and camouflage apparel. And his love for watching horror movies with his mother. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven watching over us.
A visitation will be held on May 8th at Walker Service Funeral and Chapel, Inc. 566 N. Water St. Decatur, IL 62523. His visitation will be open to the public.
