Kiana "KK" Rate, 11, passed on March 21, 2023. She was born to Brian Rate and Madilyn Gary in Vienna, West Virginia on July 08, 2011.

Kiana was a student at Jackson Middle School and was passionate about affecting the most positive change in people.

Kiana enjoyed watching anime, manga, watching TikTok and talking to her close friends and relatives. She wanted to one day become a programmer. She could speak fluent german and spanish.

Kiana's family includes Aunts : Aisha Pace-Ciurzanski, Yoselin Baylen and Rena Ciurzanski. Uncles include Tadum Ciurzanski, Mario Ciurzanski and Matthew Baylen. Cousins : LuuNa Chen (deceased), Annaleah Pace, Kushka Rinateria, Adriana Love, Krutika Laine, Emilya Laine. Siblings include Gabby Rate, Savana Rate, Nidala Rate, Kaiden Rate, Andy Rate and Miara Rate. Grandparents: Heather and Dave Gary.

Kiana was described as smart, funny, pretty, caring and loving by her family and peers. Her grandmother said her smile shows her blazing light within.
