YELLEN, Kenneth J.Mr. Yellen, 75, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 upon completing a courageous fight against Multiple System Atrophy. Ken was born on June 20, 1941, in Glastonbury, CT, the son of Joseph & Helen Yellen. He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, June Yellen. They were united in marriage on December 27, 1975 in West Palm Beach, FL and were members of St. Jude Catholic Church for over 40 years. Ken was a Fourth-Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus since the 1960s and a member of the Lion's Club of Glastonbury, CT. Ken's oldest sister, Janet Yellen, predeceased him on May 23, 1977. He is survived by his son, William J. Nye, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth A. Nye of Tequesta, FL; and his daughter, Tiffany J. Bollis and her husband David G. Bollis of Houston, TX. Ken's surviving extended family includes his sister, Ethel Vilt and her husband Robert Vilt; nephew, William Peterson and family and niece Kathleen Hardeman and family, as well as many, many wonderful cousins. Ken earned his bachelor's degree from Ithaca College and achieved a Master's Degree at The University of Kansas. He had a fulfilling and extensive career at Pratt & Whitney, which spanned over 40 years, initiating as a small group that he developed into an award winning large-scale department within the Communications Division. He began and completed his career at Pratt & Whitney's East Hartford, CT location, but worked most of his career in the West Palm Beach, FL offices. Ken retired in early 2004 as Manager of Visual Media Services Engineering, respected and loved by many of his peers and colleagues. He was a fan of the New York Yankees and Giants, played the alto saxophone competitively, as well as an avid fisherman and collector of model trains. Above all, he was a wonderful husband and loving and supporting father, putting all others ahead of himself. Ken was a friend to many and one of the humblest, giving, and respectful Godly men one could hope to know. Ken's memorial mass will be held at 10:30AM, Monday, December 19, 2016 at St. Jude Catholic Church, Tequesta, FL. Ken's family is sincerely thankful to all of the medical staff and caregivers for their compassionate care over the last several years whose kindness to Ken and his family meant so very much.
