Joyce Veronica Songui- Samuel Obituary

Mar 11, 1938 - Nov 17, 2020

This obituary is administered by:

IN LOVING MEMORY OF OUR DEAR MOM

Joyce Veronica Songui- Samuel was born on March 11, 1938 to Stella and Thomas Alexander in San Fernando, Trinidad

She had a strong Christian faith, which she instilled in her children.

Joyce loved sewing, watching television (church services, court shows, and wrestling), dancing, and shopping on HSN.

What she will be remembered most for is her cooking and homemade pepper sauce.

Joyce is survived by her five children; Judy, Joan, Jackie, Joel, and Jennifer; who she bore while married to former husband Jude Songui. In addition to three son-in-laws, one daughter-in-law, fifteen grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren, three sisters, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mom, you had 5 beautiful children that really appreciated you. We are all who we are today because of you. Afew attributes you left us with are your strength, independence, and the thing you love the most, and no it's not having kinds, it's cleaning up.

Judy: Your nurturing first born and the best looking out of all of us. Because of you mom, my caring nature will help us cope with losing you.

Joan: Your brutally honest and stubborn second child. Because of the spirituality that you\'ve taught me, I know how to always trust God. I will continue to keep the family together because you know they can't do anything without me.

Jackie: As your third and most beautiful child. I was blessed with your values that I will continue to carry on. Although I will miss our daily chats about the political madness that we stress about together, I can always reflect back on that and laugh. After all, you always did say that I was such a clown and could say things to make you laugh.

Joel: Your only son and other clown. I am strong minded and strong willed because of you. You always called me while I was working overnights on the road to make sure I was awake, safe, and dressed warm. I will miss those calls with you but I know you will always be watching over me.

Jennifer: Your baby of the clan. My motivation and drive for success comes directly from you, Mom. I know you were proud and wanted the best for me. I will always be grateful that you frequently checked on me and for leaving me long, long, long voicemails.

All: Mom, you showed us your love your way and through your actions, we will forever treasure that. Don't worry about us, we will be fine because we know that you will continue to watch over and pray for us.

-Forever your five heartbeats

PS: I want you to know that I was not the one that put your age on blast, that was your other children. Because as far as I am concerned, you've been 38 for the past 44 years. I will honor your wishes and let Judy keep thinking that she is your best looking child. -Love Jackie

I came from God, and I'm going back to God, and I won't have any gaps of death in the middle of my life. -George MacDonald
